Clinical Music Therapist & Course Tutor


Mike Hewitt qualified as a Clinical Music Therapist at the Roehampton Institute, London, in 1994. With over 28 years of experience, he has worked across diverse clinical settings including the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), mainstream and special schools, charities, and social services. His practice spans a wide range of populations including individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health issues, dementia, and children and teenagers with complex family backgrounds.

He holds professional membership with the Association of Professional Music Therapists (UK), is state registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, UK (AS01563), and was a Registered Music Therapist with the Australian Music Therapy Association (RMT, 2002–2012).

From 2009 to 2013, Mike served as a Course Tutor and External Assessor for TMTT’s Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Music Therapy in Delhi, India. During this time, he delivered numerous trainings, seminars, and workshops in India and Nepal for health professionals, students, and parents.

A passionate musician, Mike plays saxophone, keyboards, and sings in a local Cornish alternative rock band. He has also composed music and sung in several choirs. His band has released several albums to national acclaim.

Mike continues to serve as a Course Tutor, Mentor, and Advisor for various educational and clinical service initiatives run by the Walter Lobo Wellness Trust, Goa, contributing his expertise to the advancement of Clinical Music Therapy in India.
