Somesh Purey is a Clinical Music Therapist and accomplished Tabla and percussion artist with over 30 years of musical experience and 18 years of clinical practice. He has worked extensively with children and adults across diverse populations, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, geriatric needs, and those seeking improved quality of life.

Blending the richness of traditional Indian rhythms with contemporary therapeutic approaches, Somesh also leads rhythm-based experiential music therapy sessions for corporate clients and multinational companies, focusing on stress relief and holistic wellness.

As an educator, he has mentored eight cohorts of postgraduate students as an Assistant Course Tutor in Clinical Music Therapy. He also conducts regular skills training workshops for healthcare professionals, equipping them with practical music therapy tools to enhance their therapeutic practice. His impactful community-based work has received international recognition and is featured in the Oxford Handbook of Early Childhood Music Learning and Development.

At the Walter Lobo Wellness Trust, Somesh plays a vital role in multiple capacities — as Clinical Music Therapist, Course Tutor, and Executive Manager. He actively champions various educational and clinical service initiatives, including geriatric care programs, training for special educators, and parent empowerment projects, all aimed at integrating music therapy into mainstream care and education systems.
